10 Excuses You Should Never Give for Skipping Exercise
How many times have you tried to motivate a friend, but they have every excuse in the book not to work out? Well VPX Sports, just released the Top 10 reasons why people skip general exercise. Hopefully none of us are using these excuses already :-) LOL
The majority of the people reading this article probably already have an exercise program in place. However, it is likely that your friends don’t! How many times have you asked a buddy to work out with you, only to get shot down by their excuses? Here are 10 commonly used excuses, with rebuttals. Hopefully after a little more persuasion, you can get their a$$ in the gym!
Lack of time:
If we have 24 hours in a day, and 8 of those go to sleep, another 8 go to work, another 3 for eating/preparing for work, then you are left with 5 hours of free time. You only need 45 minutes a day 5 days a week to exercise. Try waking up an hour early to get your workout in, you will feel better and more energized throughout the day.
Don’t know how to exercise:
The internet is full of free information. If you don’t want to do your research, there are personal trainers out there who teach people how to exercise for a living.

Exercise is too inconvenient:
You don’t need a gym membership to workout. You can utilize the space you have at home, go for a jog around your block, or even go online and have one of those workout videos shipped straight to your door, pop the DVD in the player and exercise away!
Not fit enough to exercise:
Isn’t this why you are exercising in the first place, to get into shape? You gotta start somewhere!
Exercise is painful:
You are going to feel some discomfort while exercising. Once you build up your endurance, exercise will get easier and physical soreness will diminish.
Get enough exercise at work:
Unless you do a lot heavy lifting, this probably isn’t the case. Typing on a computer all day is NOT considered enough exercise!
As stated above, you do not need a gym membership to exercise. Take a jog around the block, grab a few cans of vegetables and use them as dumbbells, find a stairwell and climb them, utilize your home resources, be creative!
Too physically demanding:
Start small, work your way up the exercise ladder! Do only what your body can tolerate until you build up your tolerance.
You are never too old to exercise. In fact, exercise is considered the modern fountain of youth, it keeps you young.
Don’t believe in exercise:
You are just going to have to get over this one. There are so many positive outcomes of regular exercise. Decrease risk for obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes, improved mood, improved self image, decreased fat mass, increased lean body mass, the list goes on and on. Not to mention, you will look hot hot hot!
